The European accident report
An accident report is a standardized form that allows you and the opposing party to immediately describe the circumstances in which the accident occurred. Here are the golden rules for properly filling out your report:- Use the European accident report, which is identical throughout Europe, except for the language which will vary from one country to another;
- Use a pen rather than a pencil, write legibly in uppercase letters, and do not forget the back side of the contract;
- Check the personal data of the opposing driver as well as the information about their vehicle. If necessary, verify their identity card, green card, and registration certificate;
- If there are witnesses, provide their identities and contact details;
- Do not make any statement about responsibility;
- Draw a precise sketch of the accident and indicate points of attention, such as traffic signs, road markings, the presence of lights, street names, and the direction of the designated vehicles (A and B);
- If possible, attach photos;
- Sign the report, give the carbon copy to the opposing party, and submit your copy to your insurer;
